Released on February 19, 2005, Jordan 20 marked the 20th model and 20 years achievement of Air Jordan Shoes as well as Jordan's legacy on and off the court. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Jordan 20 Shoe is truly unique in that it has a revolutionary cushioning technology called Independent Podular Suspension system, as well as Air Jordan 20's free – floating ankle strap. Other technical specifications include leather, patent leather or nubuck uppers with laser-etched highlights, a phylon midsole supporting twenty I.P.S. "pods" on the outsole, and an internal shank plate in the midfoot area. The most noticeable feature of the Jordan 20 Sneaker is the laser etched design on the lace cover depicting various past achievements of Michael Jordan and Air Jordans. Tinker Hatfield takes inspirations from custom trumpets, motorcycle tires and racing boots. The Nike Air Jordan 20 was the first almost "Air-less" Jordan. You will not find a single zoom air unit in the Air Jordan 20. Instead there are 20 specially "tuned" phylon columns/pods strategically located around the outsole reinforced by an internal shank plate.
